APRA's Refinements to the General Insurance Prudential Framework Discussion Paper

Abstract:

To complement the Government's approach to regulation of DOFIs, APRA has proposed refinements to the current general insurance prudential framework in Australia. These refinements are set out in the APRA discussion paper, which should be read in conjunction with Treasury's exemption discussion paper. Submissions to APRA’s discussion paper are sought by COB 28 September 2007.

The Financial Sector Legislation Amendment (Discretionary Mutual Funds and Direct Offshore Foreign Insurers) Bill 2007 was introduced into Parliament on 21 June 2007 and the Financial Sector Legislation Amendment (Discretionary Mutual Funds and Direct Offshore Foreign Insurers) Act 2007 was given Royal Assent on 24 September 2007.
