Australia and The Bahamas Tax Information Exchange Agreement

Abstract:

The Governments of Australia and The Bahamas have signed an Agreement for the Exchange of Information Relating to Taxes. The Agreement provides for exchange of information on request in both criminal and civil tax matters.

The signing took place on 30 March 2010 in Washington DC, with Ambassador Beazley signing on behalf of Australia and HE Cornelius Smith, Ambassador to the United States of America, signing for The Bahamas.

The Agreement will enter into force after Australia and The Bahamas have advised that they have completed their respective domestic requirements.

The signing of this Agreement was announced by the Assistant Treasurer, the Hon Nick Sherry, in Media Release No. 58 of 2010.
