Abstract:

The Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law has released an exposure draft of the Corporations Amendment (Short Selling) Bill 2008 (the Bill). The Bill enhances the disclosure of covered short sales for operation at such a time that the Australian regulator determines that covered short sales be again permitted in the Australian market.

Interested parties are invited to submit comments in response to the exposure draft of the Bill. Submissions will be placed on the Treasury website unless marked 'in-confidence'. For accessibility reasons, please submit responses sent via email in a Word or RTF format. An additional PDF version may also be submitted.

Submission closing date: 21 October 2008.
